one of the very few quotes i have ever managed to memorize,

SUMMER MEMOIRS

hello again!
it has been a week and i am back to base.
as i had promised i have come back with many memories and pictures to share with you all.
our initial goal this summer was to visit the dutchess county fair,
but  was lucky to see many more lovely things.
at the fair we got to drool over handmade candy,
eat fried oreo cookies for the first time (although i was very doubtful and cautious)...

BOOK OF THE WEEK*

after all this vacation talk,
and star struck conversations, i couldn't help myself choose these two as books for this week.
roald dahl was a most beloved author of my childhood,
and of all his books that i read, these two were my favorite.
ok, "the bfg" was one book i read during a very hard period in my life, and let me just tell you this...

TUESDAY GOODY BAG*

have you been to the movies at all lately?
what have you seen?
the last time i went was to see "the avengers", which was fun...
and now i am continuing the pretty much te same mode.
i saw "the bourne legacy" with my cousin and brother this past weekend,
and i must admit it was just as good as the two previous ones, and i don't just say this because of my inherent admiration towards jeremy renner.
anyway, i highly reccomend it.
now the only one left, that i passionately want to see is the new batman movie,
which will explain some of the things in the goody bag.
1. bat t-shirt zoe karssen, 2. bangles french connection, 3. oreo cookies from anywhere really,
4.

FINALLY HERE - THE SURPRISE*

hello everyone, happy week!
i am really pleased to be starting this week with my promise.
last week, i had posted you a tiny preview of what i had in store for my etsy shop!
now, it is monday and voilá, new items to share with you.
but just before i show you, i would like to explain that ever since i was a little girl i loved miniature things. when i grew up a little more, i started making them. dollhouses, furniture, accessories...
but let's focus on the latter!
i decided to start by making delicatessens from all around the world,
like this italian panna cotta... and

WHEN HISTORY AND TRADITION BECOME ART

last week i was going through some articles from a blog i like,
and i came across a little story and a reference to a great traditional artist that i would like to tell you about. the story went like this:
a baker asked of a painter to make his picture while he was taking out bread. as the painter was drawing he decided to forsake the perspective and the contents of the oven and bread trays seemed to appear vertical. as another painter was walking by he tells the first "the way you are drawing the loafs is wrong, they will fall", only to get as a reply "only real loafs are in danger of falling. in a picture one must be able to see everyhting."

for those of you who don't already know, i am a museum geek. when i was in greece, i would always visit folk museums because that was where you could really grasp the essence of the history of a place. having said this, i was in pilio one summer where i saw for the very first time a work of theofilos up close.

theofilus/θεόφιλος (1860-1934) lived in greece during a period of transition and great turmoil...

FRIDAY IS LIKE...

how would you fill this scentence?
it is like a magic button. the clock ticks and suddenly you're faced with the weekend.
how will you spend this one?
personally,
i want to hide a bit...like behind this cello.
it's one of those days where i don't want to deal with anything,
just hide someplace in solitude and peacefullness.
but of course after just a little time, energy starts kicking in...
and ideas flowing...so you eventually want to do all of those things that spring to mind.
i want to go to the moma, finish this book (that i'm excited to review for you),
take a walk under the shade of trees, eat some chinese food,
especially the fortune cookies...and of course wear the one i bought!

what are you up to this weekend? i'd love to hear! whatever it is, bon chance!

xoxo
